The Associate General Counsel/Head of Legal – Europe will provide high-level legal counsel to support Ataccama’s business and manage the legal aspects of Ataccama’s European operations. You will oversee legal and compliance matters in the region, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regional regulations, and best practices. This role will report to the General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Legal Counsel: Develop and implement the legal strategy for Europe in alignment with global objectives; provide proactive and strategic legal advice to business leaders on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial transactions, corporate governance, intellectual property, data privacy, employment law, and litigation.
- Contract Management: Draft, review and negotiate high-value contracts, including commercial contracts, software licensing agreements, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts; support business development through effective contract management.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with European regulations with a focus on privacy, data use and access, marketing requirements, and intellectual property.
- Data Privacy: Advise and assist with the growth and maturation of Ataccama’s compliance efforts, including with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
- Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Assist with litigation and dispute resolution processes; assist with developing strategies for resolving conflicts efficiently while minimizing risk and cost.
- Employee Relations: Provide legal guidance on employment related matters in Europe, including but not limited to employment offers, terminations, contracts, policies and disputes.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: Support business development initiatives, including due diligence, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
- Corporate Governance: Oversee corporate governance matters for European subsidiaries.
Is this you?
- Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LLB from an accredited law school.
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong background in the SaaS industry. Experience in a high-growth environment is a plus. A combination of firm and in-house experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of EU laws and regulations, including GDPR and employment law.
- Bar Admission: Admitted to practice law and in good standing with the relevant bar or licensing authority in any European jurisdiction or active membership in good standing in at least one state bar in the U.S. with extensive knowledge of European law.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner to both legal and non-legal audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions. Strong ability to develop expertise in new or unfamiliar areas of law.
- Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business operations and the ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
